A new photo raises some eyebrows.

Xbox Series X

The next generation of consoles is upon us and will see releases this Holiday season. Microsoft has jumped ahead of the competition, showing their next console, the Xbox Series X (or really just the Xbox). There’s a mix of speculation and actual released material about both consoles, and today some of the former gets something with a mysterious new picture.

Xbox Head Phil Spencer recently changed his Twitter profile picture to a picture of what is presumably the next gen console’s main processor chip. It reads Project Scarlett (the codename we knew the system by before a name was officially revealed), as well as “8K.”

While 4K is still budding, 8K is another resolution a step ahead of even that. It’ll probably be several years before 8K TVs are even sold at a mass market level, nor is it clear if this picture change is meant to be taken seriously about the system’s capabilities or is more of a cheeky flex. Only time will tell, I suppose.
