As reported by insider Tom Henderson, Ubisoft has dropped the “Tom Clancy” branding from XDefiant. The controversial free-to-play multiplayer shooter will also be getting some new tests as part of the new Insider Sessions program. These will be available for “select registrants on PC” with invitations having gone out yesterday.
“As the tests progress, we plan to expand the number of participants. Remember, registration is open to all players, PC and console, so be sure to register for updates on when console players will enter testing.” The aim of these sessions is for players to go hands-on and provide feedback for features that are currently in development.
The Insider Sessions will also introduce Factions from “games outside of the Tom Clancy universe.” As a result of these changes, the company confirms unequivocally that “the game will now be known as XDefiant.” To participate in the Insider Sessions, register here, though be warned that there is an NDA. You can only register for one platform at a time and it’s only available for certain regions like the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Greece, Poland, France and more.
The number of participants will be expanded as time goes on. An email invitation will be sent to those who have been selected. Insider Sessions are also open to those who participated in the last year’s closed test.
XDefiant is in development for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, Google Stadia and PC.
