Yet Another Reason Elder Scrolls 6 Or Skyrim 2 Won’t Happen Anytime Soon

Bethesda wants to build to three or four big releases a year, but is currently churning out about two.

Bethesda’s VP of design Pete Hines has already come forward and said that neither Skyrim 2 or Elder Scrolls 6 are going to be available for quite a long time. Recently he went a bit further to explain just why it’s going to be a while before we see either of these two games. While the firm hasn’t specifically said why it’s focus is being laid elsewhere, especially when you take into considering just how popular Skyrim was, there clearly is a focus on other titles.

The company recently told MCV that it would like to get to a point where it was releasing three or four big titles a year. “We are getting to the point where these studios that we have acquired have now put a thing out, figured out how they work together and are starting to hit a bit more consistency,” Hines said. This doesn’t mean that Bethesda is going to rush right out and push the envelope. The operative words in all of this is that the company wants to build to that point.

This isn’t something where there are going to be four big games coming next year. There will however be a couple of known games such as DOOM and Dishonored 2. The company is already releasing two big ones this year in Fallout 4, and BattleCry. Knowing that, it appears that 2017 is the absolute earliest time when a new Elder Scrolls would be born and it’s likely to be even later than that. We’ll just have to wait and see.
