007 First Light Has Gone Gold

IO Interactive's heavily anticipated action-adventure will become available on May 27th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC.

Two weeks before its worldwide launch, IO Interactive has announced that 007 First Light has gone gold. Principle development is complete as the game will be sent to physical disc manufacturers and online stores for certification, though you’d best believe that a day-one patch is in the works. After all, you’ll need to download it to play offline.

Regardless, it’s a significant milestone for IOI, which delayed the action-adventure by two months for more polish. It would go on to delay the Nintendo Switch 2 version again to later this Summer, noting that it needed “bit more time” to ensure its quality.

Launching on May 27th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, 007 First Light serves as a new origin story for James Bond, who goes from the Royal Navy to joining MI6 as part of its 00 program. Throughout his journey, he’ll slowly transform across the 20-hour campaign from a brash and impulsive young agent to the charming yet calculating agent of legend.

And while IOI is leveraging its various learnings from Hitman for the stealth and sandbox design of some areas, it’s tapping into Bond’s character to introduce systems like bluffing, close-quarters combat, and shooting.
