Amnesia: The Bunker Delayed to May 16th

Frictional Games suffered a "slew of illnesses" this Winter that heavily impacted production and will take "a few more weeks."

Frictional Games’ psychological horror title Amnesia: The Bunker has been delayed. It’s now launching on May 16th for PlayStation, Xbox and PC (via GOG, Steam and Epic Games Store) instead of the previous March window. The developer revealed on Twitter that it had a “tough winter with a slew of illnesses” which affected development. “We are a small team, and things like this heavily impacts production.

“It is important to us to do the game justice, and in light of these halts in production, we don’t wish to rush the end product. The team is working hard to make The Bunker the best it can be, and a few more weeks will make the necessary difference.”

Amnesia: The Bunker takes place during World War 1 from the perspective of French soldier Henri Clement (who naturally suffers from amnesia). Stranded in an abandoned military bunker with a hungry creature on the loose, Clement must use his wits to survive. This means navigating twisted corridors and scavenging resources while not dying.

Along with the creature, there are hazards and traps to deal with. Unlike previous games in the series, Amnesia: The Bunker takes a more sandbox approach with emergent gameplay. Not only does the creature adapt to the player’s actions, but objects and resources are different with each playthrough. Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks.
