Assassin’s Creed Valhalla – Male and Female Eivor Are Both Canon Choices, Says Narrative Director

But the developers are not yet going to reveal how they "managed that trick."

Though Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will only feature a single protagonist as opposed to the two options that were presented in 2018’s Odyssey, players will nonetheless will be able to select the gender for the lead Viking raider, Eivor. Actors for both have been revealed by the developers, but which of the two is going to be the canon choice?

According to Darby McDevitt, narrative director on the upcoming open world RPG, both male and female Eivor are going to be canon. How the game will manage that is something that remains unknown, and according to McDevitt, Ubisoft won’t be revealing that at all- players will have to find out how they “managed that trick” when they play the game for themselves.

It’s an interesting choice, especially after Kassandra was chosen as the canon protagonist in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey (according to the game’s official novelization, at any rate), and it should be interesting to see how the game pulls it off.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is out this Holiday for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PC, and Stadia. Its gameplay will premiere at the Inside Xbox event next week.
