Turtle Rock Studios’ Back 4 Blood has been the center of attention over the past few days due to its PvP showcase and open beta date announcement. However, the developer also confirmed that there would be paid content post-launch. Wouldn’t this cause issues with splitting the player base? Turtle Rock clarified that as long as the party leader in PvE owns a paid content drop, it will be available for everyone else as well.
This includes new maps, gameplay features and additional campaign content. As for PvP, all players can access the same cards when a match begins, even if they haven’t purchased those content drops, and everything can be unlocked by playing the game. In fact, new playable characters and Ridden will be free for PvP players.
For now, the developer is focused on finishing the base game so it may be some time before details on the DLC or post-launch additions are revealed (though it’s confirmed that split-screen co-op won’t be included at launch). Back 4 Blood is currently slated for release on October 8th for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 and PC. It will also launch day one on Xbox Game Pass.
