DICE recently confirmed that its open beta for Battlefield 2042 would be taking place from October 6th to 9th with pre-loads starting on October 5th. Pre-orders receive early access and can partake in the new Orbital map on Conquest. While the open beta will be available for all platforms, Xbox players need Xbox Live Gold to access it, as per the official FAQ.
It’s a requirement for all multiplayer titles on the console (except those that are free-to-play) and hardly surprising but PlayStation players don’t have the same restriction. PlayStation Plus isn’t required to access and enjoy the open beta on PS4 and PS5. Granted, you’ll need it for the full game but this definitely lowers the barrier of entry those on PlayStation who simply want to try the beta out.
Battlefield 2042 is slated to release on November 19th for Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and PC (via Steam, Epic Games Store and Origin). For more details on the progression, customization for Player Cards and what skins can be unlocked by playing, head here.
