Battlefield 2042’s Development Has “Made Amazing Progress Over the Last Couple of Months” – DICE

DICE also says that the game's beta is based on an older build of the game and lacks many improvements made since then.

There’s three major multiplayer shooters hitting the market in the space of roughly a month at the tail end of this year, and like the rest, Battlefield 2042 is also gearing up for its launch with beta testing. Its open beta kicked off on October 5 and will run until October 9, and as you’d expect, many players have been jumping in. While impressions on many things have been positive (including the map design, for instance), the game’s technical state and optimization have, based on the beta, drawn plenty of criticism from all corners.

DICE has moved to assure players that these issues will be ironed out by launch. Adam Freeman, lead community manager at EA Studios, revealed in a recent tweet that the Battlefield 2042 is based on a build of the game that’s “a few months old” at this point. As such, DICE has made many “improvements, changes, and enhancements” since that time.

DICE general manager Oskar Gabrielson also took to Twitter to share a similar message, saying that the developer has made “amazing progress” on the game’s development in the last few months, which includes various improvements to the visuals and the game’s overall stability that aren’t in the beta. He adds: “In these final few weeks leading to launch, we’re making huge strides and are super focused on delivering an amazing experience when early access begins on November 12th.”

Battlefield 2042 is showing incredible potential, and series fans have no shortage of reasons to be excited about the game, but reports of its poor technical state in the beta have been worrisome for many, especially when you consider the series’ own history with launches like that of Battlefield 4. Here’s hoping DICE can release a more polished product this time. Of course, there’s always the possibility of another delay- but insider Tom Henderson has said that that doesn’t seem to be on the table right now.

Battlefield 2042 launches on November 19 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
