Bioware: Dragon Age Inquisition’s Combat Is ‘Bloody Complex’

'It's great fun, I'll tell you that!'

Bioware has been talking more and more about the upcoming Dragon Age: Inquisition, the third entry in the Dragon Age fantasy RPG series, as it approaches its release date, and recently, they took to discussing the game’s combat. Combat, you will remember, has been a particular sticking point for this franchise since the first game (which failed to translate its tactical combat well to consoles), and even the much reviled second game (which took away all depth from its combat to become a shallow action game).

None of that will apparently be an issue this time, if Bioware’s Cameron Lee’s recent interview with AusGamers is to be believed.

“The combat systems and the creatures and the enemy abilities, it’s so bloody complex that it’s almost impossible to create fixed encounters, so we just do it with a broad sense of assuming that there’s one of each class, and if they want to do all rogues, or all mages, or all warriors, or whatever combination, then have fun; go mental. If you want to do four mages, it’s great fun, I’ll tell you that [laughs],” Lee said.

Well, I for one welcome tactical depth in a Dragon Age game for a change!
