Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Post-Launch Content Will Release First on PS4

This includes free and paid post-launch content, but the waiting period is now 7 days.

Activision had previously confirmed its PS4 timed exclusivity deal for post-launch content in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. While we’ve already heard about content like Nuketown being free, new Specialist in December and so on, there’s one important thing to note: All post-launch content, whether free or paid, will be arriving on PS4 first.

This isn’t much different from, say, Call of Duty: WW2, which saw maps and paid DLC arrive for PS4 first. However, this time, the exclusivity period will only last for 7 days, instead of 30 days. If you’ve ever felt that 30 days was too long of a wait to receive content on Xbox One and PC, then this is good news indeed.

The change does make sense though, since Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will have smaller content updates in between the paid content to keep interest high. Having such a wide gap in content update, especially in a post-Fortnite world where every platform gets every updates simultaneously, would’ve probably been impractical.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is out for Xbox One, PS4, and PC on October 12th. What are your thoughts on the new timed exclusivity agreement? Let us know below.
