After “The Truth Lies” teaser website went live and fans immediately discovered the logo and official title, Activision officially confirmed that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is in development. It will be revealed after the Xbox Games Showcase on June 9th during the previously announced [REDACTED] showcase. While the reveal is sudden, Black Ops 6 has been in the works for quite some time.
Leaks emerged for the title as far back as 2022, which is also when playtesting began, per Treyarch game designer Nicole Havin. She recently tweeted that she had been “playtesting this one for two years”, and that “y’all aren’t ready,” perhaps teasing some surprises for the reveal.
While Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 doesn’t have a release date, it’s rumored to launch this October. It will allegedly focus on the Gulf War and is the first title in the franchise to have four-year development cycle. Reports also indicate that it will launch on Game Pass.
Microsoft hasn’t officially announced this, but Xbox president Sarah Bond did reiterate that Activision titles would be available on day one of the service. Stay tuned for updates in the meantime.
