Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is out later this month, with digital pre-orders gaining early access to the campaign next week. For those wanting more, it seems that DLC for the campaign is in the works.
The news comes courtesy of Ghost of Hope, a known Call of Duty leaker. They recently reported on a paid map pack that’s allegedly coming in late 2023, which includes maps across the series like Modern Warfare 2 (2009). Other maps from games by Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer Games, and Treyarch are also reportedly included.
Insider-Gaming’s Tom Henderson corroborated the rumor, though he couldn’t confirm the maps in question. Campaign DLC will apparently be bundled with this map pack, but that’s not all.
Ghost of Hope also leaked some upcoming unreleased Operators for Modern Warfare 2, namely footballers like Lionel Messi and Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior, from the in-game files. Insider-Gaming has verified the files as legitimate, though it may be related to next year’s FIFA World Cup instead of new Operators. Check out the full list below:
- Aksel
- Connor
- Klaus
- Luna
- Messi
- Neymar
- Pogba
- Roze
- Reyes
- Gromsco
As for next year’s map pack, Activision hasn’t confirmed anything, though it promised premium paid content next year “and beyond” for the franchise. As such, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will receive free post-launch content for multiplayer that should include new maps, modes, and whatnot. Stay tuned for a roadmap in the coming days.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 launches on October 28th for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and PC. Check out the various options available with the PC version here (though it seems that it will have the same phone number requirements as Overwatch 2).
