Infinity Ward may have dropped some details about the overall subject matter of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s campaign but it hasn’t been doling out too much gameplay footage. Even then, given all the effort put into the narrative, how long will the campaign be? Speaking to Game Informer, studio narrative director Taylor Kurosaki sadly didn’t provide a rough estimate.
However, he did note that it was “in line” with contemporary titles in the series. “It varies greatly. The length of this campaign is exactly in line with the lengths of what you would expect in a contemporary Call of Duty campaign.” Judging by the campaign lengths of Call of Duty: WW2 and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, that could mean a good 7 to 9 hours.
Then again, there’s more to the overall package than just the campaign. Multiplayer is its own fully fledged component and this year will new modes like Gunfight and Ground War, the latter being a massive PvP battle. There’s also Spec Ops, the returning co-op mode which will likely have a variety of missions and challenges for players to complete.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out on October 25th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. A multiplayer beta is scheduled for next week with PS4 pre-orders getting first access on September 12th. All platforms will eventually get to try out the PvP so stay tuned for more details.
