Activision’s Call of Duty: Warzone has hit a new milestone in player numbers. There have been over 60 million players in the battle royale title since launch, according to the game’s Twitter. While this doesn’t reflect daily active players, it’s still no small feat especially since this is up from 50 million players in April.
Call of Duty: Warzone is free for all but connects to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare in several ways, including shared Battle Pass progression. The title has introduced its fair share of innovations like Bounties, the Gulag and much more. Though there have been controversial issues like the Most Wanted contract, these were quickly remedied.
According to Infinity Ward, Call of Duty: Warzone will be around for quite a while. On top of wanting to support the Xbox Series X and PS5, narrative director Taylor Kurosaki said that it will be the “through-line that connects all of the different various sub-franchises of Call of Duty.” With the next game in the series still on track for this year (and reportedly set in Vietnam), perhaps it will also tie in somehow.
