Call of Duty: Warzone Will Support Xbox Series X, PS5

Infinity Ward's Taylor Kurosaki says Warzone will be "around for quite some time."

Call of Duty: Warzone has been quite the success for Activision, notching up over 50 million players within month of launching. Its timing is conspicuous given its free to play nature and the fact that the next-gen consoles are on the horizon. However, it seems there are plans by Infinity Ward and Raven Software to support the title on those platforms.

Speaking to GamerGen, Infinity Ward’s narrative director Taylor Kurosaki said, “I know that our plan is Warzone is going to be around for quite some time, so as soon as those new systems are out and available I’m sure we’ll support them.”

Whether Warzone will be coming to Xbox Series X and PS5 as a standalone title or Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will also make the jump remains to be seen. Both titles share Battle Pass progression so it would make the most sense.

Call of Duty: Warzone is currently available for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. You can read our review for it here. It recently faced some controversy for adding the “Most Wanted” contract and removing Bounties but the former was patched out within just 24 hours. As for what’s coming next, especially with the development team eying “Fortnite-style” changes for the game, stay tuned.
