Capcom Will Release “Multiple Major New Titles” by March 2021 End

The company is aiming for 28 million total unit sales by then as well.

In its latest financial results for fiscal year 2019, Capcom offered some updated sales figures like Monster Hunter World crossing 15.5 million units sold and Resident Evil 3 hitting 2.5 million units sold. However, it also interestingly noted plans to release “multiple major new titles” by March 31st 2021. The publisher is looking at 28 million units sales by this period as well.

While the strategy includes expanding sales regions, flexible pricing and sales for past major releases, these new titles are arguably more interesting. For instance, when releasing Resident Evil 2 and Devil May Cry 5 in the fiscal year ending March 2019, the company managed to hit total unit sales of 25.3 million. Keep in mind that Monster Hunter World was already a huge success by this point and made its long awaited release on PC in August 2018.

What could Capcom have planned to go even further beyond? Rumors from March indicate that four big games, which includes two Resident Evil titles, would release at that point. The remake of Resident Evil 4, which Resident Evil 3 developer M-Two is handling, is rumored to be releasing in 2022 so that’s probably not on the list. We’ll have to wait and see in the coming months just what the company has up its sleeve.
