Dark Souls 2 to Release for Xbox 360, PC and PS3 in Japan

Unlike with it's predecessor, the dungeon crawler will be playable on Microsoft's console in Japan.

Good news for Xbox 360 gamers in Japan (if there are still any of you left): FromSoftware has announced that its upcoming RPG sequel, Dark Souls 2, will be releasing for the Xbox 360 and PC as well as PS3 in Japan. While Namco-Bandai is responsible for publishing the title in Western markets, with releases set for Xbox 360, PC and PS3, FromSoftware retains publishing rights for the title in Japan.

Whichever way you cut it, this was the developer’s decision to have the game release for PC and Xbox 360. And it’s odd, considering how the first Dark Souls was exclusive to PS3 in Japan. The overall number of Xbox 360 gamers isn’t really enough to justify a profitable return, but it is what it is.

Dark Souls 2 was announced at this year’s Spike Video Game Awards, surprising many a gamer. It is being headed by two new directors, Tomohiro Shibuya and Yui Tanimura with series creator Hidetaka Miyazaki acting as a supervisor. Check out the announcement trailer below.
