True to recent leaks, Death Stranding 2 had notable presence at Sony’s recent State of Play presentation, showcasing a meaty new trailer. In addition to officially unveiling the game’s full title as Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, the trailer also unveiled new story details, showcased gameplay footage, and confirmed a launch window.
With Sam and co having brought America back together during the events of the original game, in Death Stranding 2, they’re moving away to a new location, though their goal remains the same- to bring the world back together and fight against the threat of the Death Stranding.
Drawbridge, a new civilian outfit that Fragile works with, is leading that charge, and does so with the financial support of a mysterious, unknown benefactor. Meanwhile, Higgs (played by Troy Baker) is back as well and uses a sci-fi guitar as his primary weapon to shoot out lightning, while Sam also has a new companion in the form of a puppet who hangs off the front of his… pants.
New gameplay footage is also showcased, showing Sam using plenty of his familiar tools, traipsing across desolate landscapes, driving his bike, and exploring a variety of locations, from a ruined city to a sweeping desert. There is, of course, plenty more going on throughout the trailer, as you’d expect from a Hideo Kojima game, so make sure to check it out below.
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach will launch for PS5 in 2025.
