After being in development for about four years and entering early access in February 2018, Ghost Ship Games’ Deep Rock Galactic will finally launching in full. It will be available at $29.99 for PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store while also coming to Xbox One. The game will launch with new music, weapon skins, armor and two cosmetic DLC packs.
For many though, Deep Rock Galactic is already in a pretty good state. The title, which sees space mining coinciding with co-op shooting, has received regular updates in the form of new weapons, missions, cosmetics and end-game content. Ghost Ship Games CEO Soren Lundgaard stated that, “When we started developing Deep Rock Galactic four years ago, none of us at Ghost Ship Games had imagined the game as it is today.
“While many of the core features have evolved and works as we hoped, there are also entire sections of the game that we didn’t dream of, and that is largely due to our community. Our focus has always been co-op first so to create something that truly requires teamwork meant we needed to team up with the community. We want to thank our players for their support and feedback after four years we’re incredibly excited to officially launch.”
It’s also a pretty big deal for Coffee Stain, which is publishing the game. In fact, this was the first game that the Goat Simulator and Satisfactory developer had signed. As CEO and co-founder Anton Westbergh noted, “The journey from the closed alpha through to launch has been incredible and it’s been fantastic to see such a passionate community support the game’s development. We’re thrilled to be the publishing partner for Ghost Ship Games, a studio with a unique focus and strategy for co-op combined with creativity and a real community-first approach.”
Deep Rock Galactic boasts four different classes for scouring the mines of different planets and fighting off deadly enemies. The destructible environments add a new twist to this, letting you make your own paths but also presenting the risk of facing alien hordes. Though it’s best played with others, you can still experience the game solo. You’ll use weapons like flamethrowers, miniguns and much more to succeed.
