In conclusion to a lawsuit that started back in 2021, Destiny 2 maker Bungie has won its legal battle against Destiny 2 cheat maker AimJunkies. According to Eurogamer, a judge has ruled that in making the cheats, AimJunkies violated Bungie’s copyright. As a result, Bungie has won $4,396,222 in damages and legal fees.
Alongside this victory, Bungie is continuing its battle against cheats in Destiny 2 with a new lawsuit against LaviCheats. Bungie is requesting $2,000 for each download of LaviCheats’ cheating software, totalling up to around $5.6 million.
Bungie is currently gearing up for the launch of year 6 of Destiny 2 with the upcoming release of the Lightfall expansion. Lightfall will take players to the hidden human colony of Neomuna where a major showdown against the forces of Darkness is set to take place.
Destiny 2: Lightfall is slated for release on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on February 28. The expansion is confirmed to be getting launch trailer later this week at Sony’s recently-announced State of Play, where several games, including Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, will be shown off.
