Destiny 2 Developer Says Current Roadmap is “Unchanged” After Recent Layoffs

The development team expects "no disruption to all our previously communicated content plans," including for "next year and beyond."

It’s been a rough day at Bungie, with the company announcing layoffs for 220 employees, with another 155 integrated into PlayStation over the coming quarters. As show of solidarity, the Destiny 2 developer announced on Reddit there would be no “This Week at Destiny” blog post.

Despite the 17 percent reduction in its workforce, the team expects “no disruption to all our previously communicated content plans.” The content roadmap remains “unchanged”, including “plans for next year and beyond.”

Following the launch of The Final Shape, Destiny 2 is currently in the middle of Act 2 of Episode 1: Echoes, with its third Act still to come. It has two more Episodes launching this year – Revenant and Heresy – and Codename Frontiers for 2025. There have also been rumors of Destiny 3 in development, allowing players to mix and match subclass abilities with no restrictions.

Bungie hasn’t confirmed sequel rumors, but it’s also working on Marathon, an extraction shooter for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, reportedly launching in 2025. Very little has been officially revealed, though Christopher Barrett is reportedly no longer directing. Stay tuned for more details and updates.
