In its recent combat stream hyping up Destiny 2: Forsaken’s launch in September, Bungie also talked about changes that would be coming to the ammo economy. Since the loadouts system will allow players to equip three of the same weapon, changes have been made to ensure the Crucible remains somewhat balanced.
For instance, Special weapons will always spawn with two shots in the magazine. The exception is Trace Rifle, which will spawn with 40 energy. If you have two Special weapons, then the total amount of ammo provided on spawning is halved (so one round for each). Special Ammo can also drop upon death, provided it already hasn’t been exhausted by the player.
As for mods, some rather interesting changes are on the way. Dismantling weapons will send the equipped mods to your inventory. Armour mods have also been changed to fit multiple classes, and will allow for stacking grenade cooldowns, Super cooldowns (which are returning), and more.
Also among the coming Year 2 mods are Backup Mag, which will increase magazine size, Minor Spec, which inflicts additional damage against normal grunts, Boss Spec, for more damage against bosses and vehicles, and so on. It’s possible to use any mods currently in your inventory to apply to weapons in Year 2. However, Year 1 mods won’t be working anymore and mods, in general, will no longer grant +5 Power.
