Devil May Cry 5 Won’t Receive More Post-Launch Content, Says Producer

Producer Matt Walker says Capcom's action title won't be receiving any new content going forward.

After taking a hiatus and a slight detour, Devil May Cry returned earlier this year with the launch of Devil May Cry 5, which came out to strong reviews and solid sales to revive the action series. A post-launch content update, the series’ staple Bloody Palace, came out at the beginning of this month, but it could be the last bit of DLC for the game, as Capcom has indicated earlier..

On Twitter, Producer Matt Walker answered some questions about some of the additions fans are eager to see, specifically a playable version of Vergil, the series’ beloved anti-hero, and a “Ladies Pack” DLC to focus on the female characters that has been in some rumor mills online. Unfortunately, as you can see below, Walker shot down both potential updates, saying the game has no planned post-launch content planned. He didn’t kill all hope, however, saying it would be up to Capcom’s “top people” to be convinced of it.

The series is known for it’s Special Edition releases, with Devil May Cry 3, 4, and the semi-reboot, DmC: Devil May Cry, all getting re-released editions that saw many additions and tinkering to the base gameplay, and with DMC5 paced to potentially be the best-selling game in the franchise, hopefully it’ll see similar treatment as well.

Devil May Cry 5 is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
