Digimon Survive Breaks Down Phases Of Gameplay Structure

The genre bending game will have three core gameplay elements.

One of the many Pokemon “clones” that popped up in the mid to late ’90s, the Digimon series has been far more experimental than the Pokemon series. It’s dabbled in multiple genres and the next game in the franchise, Digimon Survive, will blend together several genres in what appears to be rather dark take on the series. Now, we get an idea of how the gameplay loop will be, and it’ll come with three different phases.

As detailed via V-Jump magazine, the flow of gameplay follows three distinct phases. First is the Drama Parts that is text heavy on the game’s story, followed by the Search Action where you must search ways to survive in a crisis situation and then the Free Action where you choose who to talk to in a limited time frame as well as go into battles to train your Digimon (thanks to DualShockers for transcribing and translation work).

Digimon Survive was scheduled to come at the end of 2019 but was delayed until an undefined time in 2020. You can check out the game’s rather bizarre Japanese opening through here.
