Previews for id Software’s DOOM Eternal have gone live and that includes some sumptuous new gameplay footage. Game Informer spent significant time with the game and showcased the combat, platforming and environmental design in a new video. Check it out below (unless you really want to avoid spoilers, especially with regards to certain details).
If you played DOOM (2016), then you know what to expect. Everything has been amped up to eleven, with Glory Kills utilizing the deadly new armblade, the Chainsaw ripping apart enemies to provide ammo, and the blazing fast speed of it all. The platforming is especially fun to watch – the Doom Slayer’s enhanced movement allows for spectacles like dashing towards cliff faces, hanging off of them, and immediately jumping to a nearby ledge.
DOOM Eternal is slated to release on March 20th for Xbox One, PS4, Stadia, and PC (the Nintendo Switch version is currently without a release date). Though everything is super-polished, it probably wouldn’t have possible without the last delay. Executive producer Marty Stratton spoke about it here and also outlined how the team was crunching throughout last year.
