DOOM Eternal is finally here, and it’s about everything we wanted from a sequel to DOOM 2016. It’s got much slicker look on the graphics department, it runs well and it’s got a full arsenal of great weapons to play around with. People have taken to the game in big way, it seems. But, like all games, there were some things cut of course, and it seemed an additional weapon was in the Doom Slayer’s wheelhouse at one point.
Developer Dave Oshry featured a weapon that was cut out of the main game via his official Twitter, which you can see below. At one point, Eternal featured a pistol that you can still access through Cheat Engine. Oshry speculates the weapon was cut because it didn’t match the flow of the game’s combat, and that feels fair. Just in this short clip, the pistol doesn’t quite seem to fit the speed and swiftness of the other weapons.
DOOM Eternal is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Stadia with a Switch version scheduled to come later in the year.
