Despite rumors indicating it has “no chance” of releasing in 2022, development on BioWare’s Dragon Age 4 seems to be going well. According to Jeff Grubb on Grubbsnax (via Idle Sloth on Twitter, since the episode is currently only available for GiantBomb Premium subscribers), it’s in “very good shape” and the team is hitting its milestones. It seems that the game is on schedule which is noted to be “about 18 months out from today.”
As such, Grubb expects it to release by late 2023 at the earliest. A slip into 2024 is certainly possible especially if any problems come up along the way (or if the developer simply wants more time for polish). We know that BioWare is “excited” for 2022 so it’s possible that we could see some new gameplay later this year.
Dragon Age 4 doesn’t have any officially confirmed platforms though rumors claim that it won’t be cross-gen title. Following the problems with Anthem and the success of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order for EA, it’s going to be a single-player RPG instead of live-service.
