Dragon Age: The Veilguard Lacks Arachnophobia Mode Due to Absence of Any Spiders

Despite appearing in the series' previous two titles, fans won't have to contend with the eight-legged arthropods as enemies.

If you saw BioWare’s recently revealed accessibility options for Dragon Age: The Veilguard and blanched at the lack of an Arachnophobia mode, don’t worry. A community manager from Electronic Arts recently confirmed on Reddit that there is no such mode because, well, there are no spiders in the game.

On the one hand, it’s good news for those who don’t want to deal with spiders (obviously). On the other, there is a bit of disappointment in not having them as enemies. After all, they did appear in Dragon Age: Origins and Inquisition as threats to slay, but it is what it is. At least there are plenty of horrifying Darkspawn and dragons to deal with.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard launches on October 31st for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. It went gold last week. Head here for things we can’t wait to do when it launches, or listen to the main theme, composed by Hans Zimmer and Lorne Balfe.
