Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Will Go To Cell Saga And Introduce An Original Character

We get a better idea of the game's timeline.

Dragon Ball is as hot as it has ever been (and that is saying something if you lived through the late 90s/early 00s), and early next year we’re getting the chance to revisit the early years of Z, the series that helped launched the franchise in the west. We haven’t been too clear as of now on how much will be covered, but now it seems we have a clearer idea, as well as a tease of a totally original character that will be introduced.

As revealed via Ryokutya, the game will feature events from the Cell Saga. Up until this point we’d only seen footage that showcased content from up to Frieza. Whether or not the game will feature things from the Buu saga, the final arc in DBZ, is unclear, but it seems we’ll at least get to follow Goku’s story up to the end of Cell.

Along with that, they also say the game will introduce a new character. Bonyu will be a former female member of the Ginyu Force who left it after hating the poses the other members insisted on. Where and how she’ll be introduced isn’t clear, but we’ve known the game would feature original content for awhile.

On a more humorous aside, it’s also mentioned that a driving minigame featuring Goku and Piccolo will be in the game and based on an infamous episode where the two learn to drive. We also knew other characters would be playable in the game, but that’s maybe unexpected (thanks to Siliconera for translations).

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will release in 2020 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
