Dying Light 2 Was Announced Too Early, but it’s Not in Development Hell – Techland

The developer assures that Dying Light 2 is still very much in active development.

Dying Light 2 showed a ton of promise when it was first announced, but soon, it’ll be three years since Techland unveiled it at E3 2018. Since then, the open world title’s development has been riddled with hurdles and delays, while recent reports have also shed light on how poor management at Techland has led to an abundance of issues with the game’s prolonged production. Recently, however, the developer confirmed that it would be sharing an update on the upcoming title, and following up on that, has made a few more comments to allay some fears.

Responding to a comment on Twitter via the game’s official Twitter account, Techland admitted that Dying Light 2 was clearly announced the game earlier than they should have, but gave assurances that it is still from being in development hell, and is still very much in active production. The developer implied that the game is making progress in production.

A troubled development cycle is preferable to one that makes zero progress, one might argue, but at the end of the day, what fans will really want to see is a meaningful update from Techland and concrete news on when to expect the game. Currently, Dying Light 2 has no launch date, but with its developer update scheduled for March 17, that will hopefully be shared soon.
