Dying Light PS4 Trailer Explores “Humanity” in Darkness

What does it mean to really survive in a world gone to hell?

After teasing an interesting little announcement for today, Techland has revealed a new PlayStation 4 trailer for their upcoming free running survival horror title Dying Light. There’s a lot more to the game then just running away from zombies and scavenging for food. The lost humanity of the creatures after you isn’t lost on the protagonist, who ponders keeping one’s sanity in the face of oblivion. Check it out above.

Speaking on the PlayStation Blog US, producer Tymon Smektala states that the team “wanted to present a deeper vision of what a zombie epidemic would mean for humankind. ‘Epidemic’ being the crucial word here. Mutating into a zombie is a result of infection, not some kind of a supernatural transformation, but simply a disease, just like flu, pneumonia, or SARS.

“People who just two months or so earlier had families, homes, and jobs, had to become scavengers and hunters in order to survive. Now their everyday routine consists of gathering supplies, repairing barricades, fighting for medicines – struggling to stay alive, to put it simply. In this world, things that we take for granted are in fact precious commodities.”

The message is conveyed rather powerfully, for sure. Now how about that release date?

Dying Light will be out this year for PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC.
