Techland is hot onto their marketing plan for the upcoming zombie sequel, Dying Light 2. The success of the first game made the team swing for the fences in their second outing, but apparently its success has also prompted them to not forget the title as more DLC is actually planned for the original Dying Light.
In speaking with GamesIndustry, Lead Designer Tymon Smektala spoke at length about the first game’s success as well as what they planned for the second. He also revealed that they planned to release more content for the first game even as they continue development for the sequel as they see it as being integral to keeping their audience happy.
“It is mostly down to word-of-mouth, and we have a vocal community that really tries to tell everyone in the world that they love this game and that you should love it as well,” says Smektala. “I am not sure how this year stacks up. We did the ’10-in-12′ campaign last year, which was 10 DLCs that we released over the span of 12 months. So I’m not sure about this year, because it’s time to focus on Dying Light 2.
“But we had a meeting right before E3 where we said we still wanted to add things to the first one. And there’s now a small team which is working on additional stuff that will happen in Dying Light.”
Well, continuing to support the game adds credibility to Techland wanting to support Dying Light 2 for years, at the very least. What’s dead can never die, indeed. Dying Light is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The sequel will release on the same platforms sometime in Spring of 2020.
