E3 2020 Cancellation Is A Strong Possibility, According To Multiple Sources – Rumor

Multiple well-known sources say it's only a matter of time.

While the biggest gaming conference of the year, E3, had been scheduled to still happen despite the global spread of the coronavirus that has shut down many industry events, we heard not long after that it was being reassessed after all. Well, now it seems almost all but certain that the event will no longer happen.

Various industry sources have been coming out and saying they’ve heard from both publishers and developers that the ESA, the governing body of E3, have been in contact with all parties involved, and it seems to be only a matter of time before the event’s cancellation is announced.

This is coming from a multitude of industry sources, but I’ll link to the highly respected and reputable Jason Schreier of Kotaku, who says an announcement is most likely coming soon, and publisher Devolver Digital who gives the handy advice to just go ahead and cancel those flights and hotel bookings below (you can go through each Twitter feed and see multiple other sources being retweeted).

The fate of the show was, unfortunately, an inevitability, it seems. With concerns around the current outbreak shutting down media events left and right, as well as the planned creative directors dropping out of the show, it looks like the possibility of no E3 at all is very likely.
