Fallout 76 Mod Enables Proximity Text Chat

Players within 100 meters of each other can now chat over text.

While Bethesda continues to put out patches for Fallout 76 to fix the alarmingly large number of issues the game launched with, the community is also doing its part, which mostly comes in the form of mods. One such mod, made by Nexus Mods user liyalai, enables proximity text chat features for the game’s PC version.

To be more specific, players in a server within 100 meters of each other can chat with each other through text. This, of course, can only be done with other players who’re also using this mod- which is represented by having those players’ names displayed in blue whenever applicable. After an update to the mod, global text chat has also been enabled (though this can be turned off), while you can also block players, or scroll through chat history (for up to 100 messages, using the up and down arrow keys).

Recently, Bethesda released a patch that enabled several much-requested features in Fallout 76, such as the Bulldoze feature in C.A.M.P. building, SPECIAL respeccing, and FoV sliders and push-to-talk for the game’s PC version. Prior to that, another update fixed stash sizes. Read more about both through the links.
