Joining Far Cry 3 Classic Edition, Ubisoft’s Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon Classic Edition is also getting a free 60 FPS update. It will be available for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on January 21st, and at this point, we can probably surmise that Far Cry Primal is also targeting the same date. In the meantime, check out the trailer for Blood Dragon below, which is strangely not in 60 FPS.
First released in 2013 as an 80s action movie spin-off to Far Cry 3, the story follows Sergeant Rex “Power” Colt on a mission to kill the rogue Colonel Sloane. While it removes several elements from its predecessor and offers a smaller open world, Blood Dragon received praise for its humor, new weapons and the titular creature, which can be lured to attack enemies.
The Classic Edition was initially released in 2021 as part of Far Cry 6’s Season Pass before launching separately for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. However, its 30 FPS cap on consoles and horrendous input lag soured the experience for many fans. Whether the upcoming update will address the latter remains to be seen, so stay tuned.
