Final Fantasy 14: Shadowbringers to Include Nier Automata-Themed Raids

Designed by Yoko Taro and Yosuke Saito, YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse comprises three Alliance raids.

In the midst of dropping several details about the upcoming expansion to Final Fantasy 14, Shadowbringers, Square Enix announced that Nier: Automata-themed raids would also be included. Created by designer Yoko Taro and producer Yosuke Saito, YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse will comprise three new Alliance raids in the expansion. Check out Final Fantasy 14 producer/director Naoki Yoshida making the announcement at the game’s recent Fan Festival.

YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse will feature three teams of eight players working together. How the lore fits in with Final Fantasy 14 hasn’t been revealed, but could be something that Square Enix wants to keep under wraps until launch. Nevertheless, it’s an exciting announcement, especially considering that Gunblades are making a return (check out the extended teaser trailer below).

Final Fantasy 14: Shadowbringers will be out on on July 2nd for PS4 and PC. The Gunblade wielder is actually part of a new class, and the Viera from Final Fantasy 12 will also be returning as a new race. The expansion will also have new areas like the Rak’tika Greatwood and Il Mheg. You can expect more quests, dungeons, and other activities as well.
