There’s been a lot to love about this generation of consoles (and a fair share not to as well), but I think one of my favorite things has been the return of the mid-range developers (or “AA” developers, as some refer to them) and them continuing to find success. The resurgence of this mid-tier has led to some interesting titles, and one of the leading forces have been publisher Focus Home Interactive. And it looks like they’ve been rewarded well for their efforts so far.
As per their reports of the Q1 from the current 2019/20 financial year, the company saw a huge growth of €42.6 million in revenue, a 49% year-on-year increase. Both their recent games like A Plague Tale and World War Z and back catalogue titles have helped them see a strong increase as well. Jürgen Goeldner, President of the Executive Board said they expect even more growth in later quarters all the way up to 2022.
“This quarter is an important milestone for Focus Home Interactive, with the confirmation of the anticipated successes of World War Z and A Plague Tale. The stability of our growth model is strengthened by the very strong performance of our back-catalogue. This excellent momentum and the highly anticipated launches of The Surge 2 and GreedFall in the near future promise for an excellent 2019/20 year and reinforce our ambitions for 2022.”
The company’s game library will also soon come to Microsoft’s PC version of Game Pass, which should give them more exposure. The next major releases from the company will be GreedFall and The Surge 2, which will release this September for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
