The upcoming RPG game, Greedfall, from Spiders is coming later in the month, but in the meantime there’s big news in regards to the studio as they have been acquired by Bigben Interactive and will be added to the companies growing portfolio of studios.

The announcement came earlier in the day via a press release. Earlier in the year, Bigben said they hoped to be the biggest mid-range (often dubbed AA by some) publisher out there. In that context, this acquisition makes a huge amount of sense as Spiders has emerged as being one of the quintessential “AA” developers with their output.

Spiders’ next game, Greedfall, looks to continue that trend on September  10th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It should go well with other properties that Bigben Interactive is involved in, such as the World of Darkness adaptations like Vampire: The Masquerade. It’s an exciting time for independent and midrange game development.
