With any launch of this magnitude, minor screw ups are bound to happen, and that is exactly what happened with UK retailer GAME. Earlier today, reports began to crop up that GAME had canceled hundreds of pre-orders for the Limited Edition of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, which caused a bit of a furore. However, in a statement released to Gamespot, GAME clarified the situation, stating that 370 pre-orders for the standard edition of the game had been incorrectly processed and charged as the Limited Edition, leading to cancelations.
“Regrettably, due to a technical issue with our computer systems, 370 customers who pre-ordered the Metal Gear Solid V standard edition have had their orders incorrectly charged,” a spokesperson said.
“Our customer service and store teams are currently working to contact all those impacted and refund any over payment. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.”
It sucks for the players who had pre-ordered the game, and now may have to wait a while after the launch day before they can get their hands on it.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain launches September 1 on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, and PC.
