Following rumors about Microsoft debating whether Call of Duty should come to Game Pass, Xbox president Sarah Bond reiterated that all first-party titles from the publisher arrive on day one for the service. That includes Activision’s titles, but she didn’t discuss rumors about Game Pass potentially receiving a price hike. Nevertheless, it seems to be happening.
In the Xbox Two Podcast with Jez Corden of Windows Central, Rand al Thor 19 said he’s heard something similar. It also seems that a new tier of Game Pass could be on the way. “I think Tom was reporting that there are price hikes coming for Game Pass, and I believe them. I think that actually is happening. I’ve even heard there’s a new tier of Game Pass coming.”
Though he’s “pretty sure it’s happening,” Thor has “no idea what is involved, and what it would be or what it is.” There are currently three tiers – Xbox Game Pass Core (the replacement for Xbox Live Gold), regular Game Pass for consoles and PC, and Game Pass Ultimate. What a new tier could look like is anyone’s guess.
Also, if Microsoft were to announce such a thing, it could be at the upcoming Xbox Games Showcase on June 9th, where it’s rumored to show off Gears 6, Perfect Dark and – in [REDACTED] Direct after the show – Call of Duty: Black Ops Gulf War. As always, stay tuned for more updates and details in the meantime.
