Original story continues:
We already knew that Grand Theft Auto 5 was a gargantuan success- after all, it is the highest selling game of all time, with over 50 million units sold worldwide. GTA Online continues to generate a steady source of revenue for Rockstar and their parent company Take-Two as well. But what we didn’t know was just how much ancillary revenue the game has managed to generate.
Take Two have revealed that sales of Grand Theft Auto products since July 1st 2013 through September 30th 2015 have accounted for approximately $2.3 billion in revenue, reports ZHugeEX. Now of course, the majority of these numbers come directly from GTA 5 and GTA: Online. But other GTA products that have launched since, such as re-releases of older games on other platforms, and merchandize, have also been generating a fair amount of that money.
That is seriously insane. Grand Theft Auto 5 is a great game, too, so it’s nice to see the masses agree to the critical consensus for once. Now be nice, Rockstar, and give us some good single player story DLC for the game.
