Halo Infinite’s free-to-play multiplayer launched (technically in beta) a few days back, and instantly saw the kind of rapturous success that, honestly, hasn’t surprised anyone. Reception for the multiplayer has been widely positive, but even so, many have brought up issues with the Battle Pass progression in particular, which has been criticized for being too slow and grindy, among other things.
343 Industries recently said that it was listening to feedback for the same and looking into ways to fix the issues, and it seems they’re ready to take the first steps down that road. Taking recently to Twitter, community manager John Junyszek revealed some “targeted tunings” that 343 Industries will be making to Halo Infinite’s Battle Pass progression later this week, which will entail several changes.
For starters, “Play 1 Game” challenges are being added, which will allow players to make consistent Battle Pass progress simply by playing matches. Additionally, 343 is also “adjusting fixing bugs with, and removing some Weekly Challenges” based on feedback from players, which will allow faster progress to be made with Weekly Challenges in particular.
Junyszek says that when the update goes live (the exact date for which hasn’t yet been shared), any and all progress made by players towards Weekly Challenges will be reset, though to make up for that, the Ultimate Reward for this week – the Sigil Mark VII Visor – will be given to everyone who logs into the game between November 23 and November 30. Finally, double XP boosts are also being tweaked, and will now last an hour instead of 30 minutes.
According to Junyszek, this batch of changes represents “only the first step” in 343 Industries’ effort to evolve and improve the system, though he does warn that it will “take time.” Hopefully things will be in much better shape by the time Season 2 rolls around.
Speaking of which, 343 Industries recently confirmed that Season 1 – Heroes of Reach is being extended, and that Season 2 will now begin in May 2022. Read more on that through here.
Meanwhile, we’ve also been treated to plenty of new single player campaign footage and details, which you can check out through the links.
Halo Infinite will see the launch of its single player campaign and the full launch of its multiplayer for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC on December 8.
