Halo Infinite probably hasn’t been getting the recognition it deserves for the way it has started turning things around for itself following the launch of Season 5 in October (though it certainly has seen an uptick in player numbers), and the shooter is set to receive another important update in few days’ time. In an update on Halo Waypoint, 343 Industries has offered some details on what the update will bring.
Among the many things the mid-season update will add when it launches on December 5, the most important has to be Firefight, the Halo franchise’s beloved PvE mode. In Halo Infinite, the mode will come in the form of Firefight: King of the Hill, and will task four player groups to fight against waves of the Banished. At launch, the playlist will include nine maps.
Another intriguing new addition will be the Repair Field equipment, which will work similar to Halo 3’s regenerator. When used, anything and everything in the Repair Field’s area of effect – allies, enemies, vehicles, and in certain modes, even downed Spartans – will be healed or repaired.
The December Update will also make improvements to Ranked Extraction and CSR, as well as the custom game browser. Also included are some notable Forge updates, including the addition of all High Value Targets from the campaign (including major bosses like Jega ‘Rdomnai, Escharum, and the Harbinger), players being allowed to use the Node Graph to enable and disable Skulls, and various quality-of-life updates.
More details on the update – and on Firefight in particular – will be shared on December 4, so stay tuned.
Halo Infinite is available on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC.
