Helldivers 2’s Redacted Regiment Warbond Has Been Delayed to January 22

Arrowhead Game Studios discovered an issue with the special ops-themed Warbond, which has since been resolved and it is ready for release.

While Arrowhead Game Studios had originally planned to launch Helldivers 2‘s latest Warbond—Redacted Regiment—today, the studio found some issues with it, forcing a delay. In a new social media post, however, the developers have confirmed that this issue has been resolved, and that the Redacted Regiment Warbond will be released on January 22 at 2 pm CET.

The studio didn’t really go into detail about what issues were discovered with the Warbond, with the possibilities being quite endless from the design of the Warbond itself, to some of its weapons and armours potentially being bugged.

“Greetings Helldivers. We were able to resolve the issue with Redacted Regiment and it will soon be available for release! We will have a patch incoming Thursday 22nd January at 11AM CET (11:00) with Redacted Regiment going live at 2PM CET (14:00) also on the 22nd,” wrote Arrowhead Game Studios on social media.

The Redacted Regiment Warbond will bring with it two new primary weapons—the R-72 Censor rifle and the AR-59 Suppressor full-auto assault rifle. It also features the P-35 Re-Educator pistol, which is capable of shooting hallucinogenic darts at organic foes like Terminds and Illuminates. Generally speaking, the Warbond is going for a “special ops” theme, which can be seen in full display thanks to the new B/MD C4 Pack Stratagem, which allows players to use six C4 charges that can be set up to take down large enemy installations. Those interested in sneaking around the enemy instead can use the TM-01 Lure Mine to distract foes.

Players will also have new armor sets to choose from that go further into the “special ops” themes, with the RS-89 Shadow Paragon light armor and the RS-67 Null Cipher medium armor. The main armor perk on both sets is “Reduced Signature” which makes you quieter while also affecting enemy detection range. The addition of the Concealed Insertion booster also adds more to the fantasy, providing a smokescreen for Hellpod landings.

Earlier this month, Arrowhead Game Studios had also kicked off a new Major Order that revolves around the Democratic Space Station getting upgraded to become a “macro-scale laser” that is optimized for “mass Freedom dispensation.” To help with this grand project, Helldivers have been tasked with diving into Magma planets to take on the native Automatons, whose bodies have been discovered to have iridium-fused superalloy heat sinks.

Interestingly, the video announcing the new Major Order might also have included hints about the future storyline of Helldivers 2. Fans of the game have discovered new Illuminate structure in the news reel, which might be a sign of a major conflict stirring in the background.

This might be cause for concern, since studio CEO Shams Jorjani has spoken about how the next major update for Helldivers 2 will end up with many players dying. He also spoke about the studio’s hopes to share details about new quality-of-life features while keeping narrative beats hidden from players.

Helldivers 2 is available on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. For more details, check out our review of its Xbox release.
