IO Interactive’s Hitman 3 is receiving quite the range of exclusive deals. Along with being playable exclusively on PlayStation VR (with levels from the previous games also supported), it will be timed exclusive to the Epic Games Store on PC. However, a nice little twist is that PC players on Steam can carry over progression and unlocks from Hitman 2 into Hitman 3 when it launches on the Epic Games.
Locations from the first two games can also be imported into the third game without any issues. Speaking to Eurogamer, IO Interactive boss Hakan Abrak said that, “Self-publishing Hitman 3 is a big step for IO Interactive in achieving our highly ambitious goals as an independent studio. Furthermore, this partnership with Epic has given us the freedom to create the game exactly as we imagined, for our fans and for our community uncompromised.”
This is the first title in the series to be self-published – Hitman in 2016 was published by Square Enix while Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment published Hitman 2 in 2018. Hitman 3 will be exclusive to the Epic Games Store for 12 months. Along with PC, it’s also being developed for Xbox One, PS4, Xbox Series X, PS5 and Google Stadia.
Recently, IO Interactive also announced the various game modes that would be returning. Unfortunately, Ghost Mode isn’t one of them and servers in Hitman 2 for the same will be dropped later this month.
