Listed below are several issues that the PC version of Hitman might face, and some helpful solutions.

Game freezes in the middle of missions

Several people who‘re been using DX 12 (and some others who haven’t) have been facing this problem. If your game ever freezes while you’re in the middle of a mission, try the following:

  • Switch to DX 11
  • Update your hardware drivers
  • Lower/change the settings in the NVidia control panel

Game crashes

There are several variations of this issue, but all of them ultimately boil down to the same thing- the game crashes all of a sudden. Sometimes on startup, sometimes during the first mission and sometimes after changing the settings- there have been reports regarding all three. If you ever face this issue, you probably need to upgrade your hardware drivers.

Steam error- Purchase cannot be revalidated successfully

It is possible that if you have installed the game in multiple systems using your Steam account, you might come across this error.

If you ever come across this issue if that is not the case, then make sure that you have entered all your payment details correctly.

Download stops at 99%

Before doing anything, be sure to delete the content that has already been downloaded. After that, disable your anti-virus for a bit and then restart the download.

Game won’t launch

Once again, it’s probably your anti-virus that is the root of the problem here. Disable your anti-virus and try starting up the game. If this doesn’t work, try launching it in windowed mode.

Lag or frame-rate drops

There’s some easy workarounds for this problem, and we’ve already mentioned some of them in this guide. You can try switching from DX 12 to DX 11 (you can do so while opening the launcher), since the game is optimized for the latter. Alternatively, you can try switching between “windowed borderless” and “exclusive fullscreen” while playing.

If none of those work, try changing your vsync options, or try lowering the game’s graphical settings.

Note: Given the wide range of PC hardware out there, the fixes mentioned here may or may not work for you. But it’s worth giving them a shot since these have worked for players who own the PC version of Hitman.
