Warner Bros. Games’ Hogwarts Legacy has been delayed to next year, but more details and gameplay are coming sooner than expected. The action RPG will receive an “exclusive new look” at Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 23rd, as per host Geoff Keighley.
Hogwarts Legacy is set in the late 1800s, much before the events of the Harry Potter books, and follows a new student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. As a fifth year, they’re seemingly capable of using ancient magic, which could cause significant repercussions for the wizarding world. Along with meeting new and familiar characters (including new antagonists like Dark Wizard leader Victor Rookwood), the player will traverse familiar locations like Hogsmeade.
Hogwarts Legacy releases on February 10th, 2023 for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, Xbox One, PS4, and PC with the Nintendo Switch release date coming later. Gamescom Opening Night Live will stream at 11 AM PT/2 PM ET on August 23rd and features over 30 games across two hours. Sonic Frontiers and High on Life are confirmed to appear along with the next title from Unknown Worlds Entertainment (of Subnautica fame).
