Insomniac Games’ output has been excellent these last few years, in terms of both quantity and quality, and it seems like the future has something similar in store for the studio. With Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Marvel’s Wolverine, Insomniac already has two major AAA games confirmed to be in development, but there are other things in the works behind-the-scenes as well.
In June last year, it was confirmed via job ads that Insomniac Games was working on new unannounced multiplayer game. Development seems to be progressing, it seems, and the studio is continuing to beef up its team for the project. Insomniac’s head of technology Shaun McCabe recently took to Twitter to post about a job opening for the position of Senior Gameplay Manager on the new multiplayer project.
This game, whatever it turns out to be, is part of Sony’s effort to expand its presence in the live service space. The company plans on publishing at least 10 new live service games in the coming four years. Reports last year suggested that Insomniac’s multiplayer project was also Marvel-related, but for now, there are no official details on the game.
Insomniac has recently been the subject of some controversy. Former Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart narrative lead Sam Meggs recently criticized the studio for not properly crediting her for her role in the project, saying that the studio had “erased” her work on the game.
