We have been reporting on the possibility of Warner Bros. entering the NFC enabled toys-to-life genre of video games for a while now- ever since the very first leak regarding the mysterious ‘Lego Dimensions,’ which will use NFC Lego figures. And now, it appears that the game has officially been announced, and will be launching on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Wii U on September 29.
As reported, the game will see players using little Lego figurines to progress in game via an NFC Portal- Lego Dimensions will see players take on Lord Vortech using various characters, vehicles and weapons such as: LEGO Bad Cop, the DeLorean Time Machine from Back to the Future, the Ninjago Masters of Spinjitsu, Wonder Woman and more.
A $100 starter pack is already available from leading toy stores and game retailers. The starter pack includes:
- LEGO Dimensions videogame
- LEGO Toy Pad (brings characters into the console game)

The Lego Dimensions video game will also span multiple properties- in addition to DC Comics, The Lord of the Rings, the Lego Movie, more are expected to be announced at a later day.
With Warner Bros. throwing the gauntlet, they are now the fourth major entrant in the genre- other major contenders include Activision, who pioneered the concept with their Skylanders franchise, Disney, who are utilizing all the major brands at their disposal with Disney Infinity, Nintendo, who are leveraging their mascot characters to create the wildly successful Amiibos, and now Warner Bros.
